Swim Team this Week
We made it through the busiest week of the swim season and there is light at the end of the tunnel! We are down to four more meets and hopefully will send some swimmers to the All-Star Meet.
We tied Hayfield Farm on Saturday! We were even, score-wise, with them on every stroke. And then we split the Relays with them - it was a lot of fun to cheer for your swimmers...
...until this morning when they went up against the jaugernaut of a team in the Parents. Unfortunately, the quest to be back-to-back winners went unfulled for the Parents as the Kids had a fast relay finish to claim victory. This is the best meet of the season - thank you for coming out and sharing in the love of swimming and the swim team this morning, it was a lot of fun. The best part of the morning was Jude Butler on his banjo playing the National Anthem - great job, Jude!
Now for the rest of the week:
Monday AM - have your swimmer let us know which two strokes, plus the IM, they will swim at Brandywine that evening. This is the last opportunity for the swimmers to compete in the IM before the IM Carnival next week. Encourage them to swim to get legal or to drop time. If your swimmer intends to be at the meet, but cannot make it to practice, please let us know which strokes they want to swim.
Monday PM - Meet at Brandywine, 9537 Helenwood, Fairfax. Our warm up will be at 5:20-5:40 pm. The meet will start at 6 pm. Let's go to Woody's after the meet, if we can get there by 9 pm.
Tuesday AM - Practice
Wednesday AM - Practice and Team Doughnut Breakfast. Please check the SwimTopia sign-up for items that are still needed.
Thursday AM - Practice
Friday AM - Practice and Mini Wizard Meet at 10:30 am. The Mini Meet will take place at the normal practice time. The Minis will compete with each other in the 25m kickboard, 25m freestyle and the 25m backstroke. Ribbons will be awarded immediately after the swims.
Friday PM - Lip Sync, 7 pm. Please join us at the back patio for some lip sync performances. The sign up is on the bulletin board by the mailboxes. Please encourage your swimmers to participate, it is so much fun and they are very brave to get up in front of us to lip sync to their song of choice. I hear the coaches are hard at work on their act...
Saturday AM - Meet at South Run, more details to follow...
See you at the pool,
