Master Swim
The Master swim program is available for adult swimmers at all levels, however, it is NOT a learn-to-swim program.  Participants should be able to swim the length of the pool (25m) and back without touching the bottom or stopping for more than a few quick breaths at the turn.  Throughout the program, each participant will work at his or her own pace in a lane with 3 to 4 others who swim at approximately the same speed.

The program runs for 6 weeks, on Tuesday and Thursday nights, beginning on June 28th and continuing through August 4th.  The program reaches capacity when 25 swimmers have enrolled.  We reached capacity last year, and expect to again this year, so register as soon as possible.  The fee for the 6 week session is $70.  Checks should be made to KRST and given to the swim team reps or left in the designated envelop in the guard house.

Under the supervision and guidance of Coach Mike Chestnut and Coach Tim White, the Masters swimmers will focus on improving their stroke mechanics, swimming efficiency, and cardiovascular fitness.  Each one hour practice session begins with a warm up that includes work with the kick boards.  The warm up is followed by drills to improve aspects of each specific stroke—freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.  Each swimmer, upon request, will receive individual feedback and lots of encouragement!

On Wednesday, August 31st, our Masters swimmers will gather at Lakeview with other Masters from Commonwealth and Lakeview for the 2nd annual Masters Meet.  There will be no timers, no stroke and turn judges, no ribbons, just swimming and lots of fun.  You only swim the strokes with which you are comfortable.  Heats will be run based on age and lying about your age is allowed!  Please bring an appetizer, dessert, or drink to share.

Please contact Kim Sanders (hawkandhoo@verizon.net) or Sarah White (brisar@cox.net) with any questions.
Hope to see you in the pool!
